About the Copenhagen Meeting Network

The official conference (COP15) on 7-18 December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark is of course extremely important. The participating parties represents governments from all over the world (rich and poor countries; industrialized and less industrialized countries); We can all only hope that the meeting will be successful and that the result will be a new and better protocol, which eventually will replace the Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol has many good and idealistic intentions, but the results remain to be seen.

The Copenhagen Meeting Network is based upon the following idea: Climate Change is not something that only should be left over to the politicians, all people need to be engaged. The climate is changing: The ice of the glaciers, Arctic, and Antarctic is melting. Fresh air and drinking water become more and more scarce. Many species of plants and animals are becoming extinct. The change that is needed is a change in mankind’s behavior; therefore people must change; and it is the people who have to tell the politicians what to do!

However, not all want to do the same. That is why The Copenhagen Meeting Network has several different areas; some people want more information before decisions are made, some want to invest in climate now, and some want to protest and fight against pollution. – On the page Join you can make your choice, where to join!
